pioneer 737-progressive scan

I got my new t.v today,a panasonic 36pd30 which can take a pal and ntsc progressive signal. My pioneer can only output ntsc prog/scan,i have tried a r1 dvd today and made sure i selected componant prog in the players set-up menu, but when i play the dvd the progressive scan indicator light on the front of the player does not light up.Am i doing something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated

Take it that it is multi region enabled and the little switch on the back of the dvd player is set to auto or ntsc, and you are using a component cable

Thanks for the reply Gandley, yes i am using componant and the switch on the back is set to menu ,this means you can select compo/prog from the video set-up menu which i think i have done correctly,oh and yes the pioneer is multi-region.
