I apologise if this post has been covered before, but i have searched, and cannot find an answer. Unfortunately, i purchased a Panasonic Scpt-850, around 15 months ago,and was unaware that the unit could not output Dts, from an external source( this came to light when attempting to connect Ps3 via optical).The only solution was to select PCM, as opposed to Bitstream, and although this allowed playback of Dts, encoded Blu-rays, i was never aware as to whether this was a 'pseudo' Dts, or not. Anyway, i have just purchased a Sony Bdp s-360, which i believe decodes 'onboard' and seems to playback Dts blu-rays no problem( Simpsons Movie, The Strangers) having selected bitstream via optical, as opposed to Pcm.
Due to the proximity of Christmas, i cannot afford a new amp,until the new-year. I understand that i cannot receive Tru-Dolby/Dts hd, but am i at least now, receiving a standard Dts soundtrack?, due to the Sony decoding the soundtrack, as opposed to the Panasonic, which cannot decode from an external source.Thanks and sorry for the convoluted post.
