Denon A1UD vs Denon 4010 - What do we know yet?

How do these two behemoths line-up in terms of picture quality, audio quality and specs ?

Is there any known compromise with going for the Denon 4010 over the A1UD (other then a huge saving in cash?) ????

MJ, are you planning to use DL4?

If thats the case, then the A1UD probably won't have much performance advantage.

Denon Link (version 4)

Denon’s digital cable to transfer sound from player to amp.

I doubt the eject mechanism will be as smooth on the 4010

Seriously though I know the 4010 hasn't got the HQV Teranex video processing so I wonder if it will have the same video adjust options compared to the A1 as these can add real depth and punch to the image, also I guess the Dacs in the 4010 will be of an inferior quality.

Saying all that though I expect the 4010 to be an awesome player and I doubt you'd see much difference in BD and SD palyback compared to the A1, I'd expect alot of the lessons learned in building the A1 will be passed down to the 4010.

I was gonna set-up the multi-channel analogues AND the Denon Link 4 (via HDMI) and compare the two. I can pick and choose then.

Does the 4010 have the dual HDMI outputs that the A1UD has ?

Just the one I'm afriad, which I have to say is a bit of a mistake on a player costing £1900, personally I could do with 3 HDMI outs, one to the projector, one to the amp for sound and another direct to my plasma, I don't think I'll ever see this though.

Agreed only the one out. However the Tray is still very smooth although the tray hasn't been on the same diet as the A1... a little thicker. It's looking like we won't see them arrive till December now Was having a play with one at Denon today though
