I have owned a Denon 2800 for the last year and a half, and have recently taken the decision to move to a Toshiba SD900e after all of the glowing reports on this forum.

I would like to seek the views of people who have upgraded or indeed downgraded the firmware on the Model I Denon 2800. I bought my 2800 from ebay, and when I tried to upgrade using firmware on the internet, I ran into problems. I asked Hayden Labs (indirectly thru the person I bought the machine from) to install PAL progressive and Multi region firmware, and that worked fine.

Has anyone on the forum simply left their Denon 2800 as Region 2, NTSC Progressive only, ie. original firmware. Your comments would be appreciated.

From when I had my 2800 MK1, it didn't make any difference whether you used R2 or MR firmware, it still jumped and had audio glitches. All denied by Denon incidentally..........

So I wouldn't bother changing the firmware!
