Replace DMP-BD30 with LG BD390?

Hi folks, I curently have a Panny BD-30 linked to an Onkyo 605 and a Panny TH42PZ70 plasma. Have been considering replacing the BD30 with a newer generation player. Startup time on the BD30 is poor and DVD upscaling is also not good. Would be nice to have a profile 2.0 player and Wifi connectivity also.

Have scanned the web, read a number of reviews and the two players I'm considering are the Sony 360 and the LG BD390. The LG seems to be the best bang per buck right now and ticks all my boxes. Would you agree?

Need to ensure that picture and digitial sound quality are as good, but hopefully better than the BD-30. Opinions greatly appreciated... thanks.

Re: Replace DMP-BD30 with LG BD390?

I have an LG BD390 and an Oppo BD83... I bought the Oppo first and it's a truly great machine, but I don't think I would have bought it, had I bought the LG BD390 first, that's how highly I rate it.

Blu Ray performance @1080p/24Hz is as good as any. Load Times for Blu's is on par with Oppo and PS3 and it's such a multifunctional machine, that feature wise it outplays the Oppo.

Fair enough, SD scaling is not as good as the Oppo (which other BD is...?), but much, much better than the Panny BD30 (I've had 2 of those) and in absolute terms the Oppo has the edge over the LG, but then it cost me nearly 400 quid more.

As I said, had I bought the LG first I probably wouldn't have bought the Oppo
