Blu-ray player for my new 42"G10

My new tv should arrive next tuesday and I've almost persuaded the wife that we need a BR player to get the best out of it.

I'm very tempted to get a PS3 as I'm a massive gamer and this would be a good way to sneak it in.

Would this be a mistake? Can I get far better BD players for less? or are they all similar anyway.

If you're a 'massive gamer' then the Ps3 makes sense. There are advantages to a standalone (less energy consumption / subtle picture improvements and sound) and can be had for a fraction of the price.

You won't be disappointed if you go down the Ps3 route

On a 42" I would agree with snick, I have a PS3 on mine, on a 42" any of them will be fine.

Can't go wrong with the PS3, I have stated it many times. I have lost count how many blu ray players I've had this year...

The only machine I have kept always is the PS3 and I intend to continue doing so. Just make sure you buy the remote, so your missus can use it too... if you let her
