Hi, Do I need a blu-ray player? Please help

Hi, Im sorry if this question has been anwsered before but ive been looking around and havn't found anything. I have a Panasonic Plasma TV and a Panasonic SCBTX70EB Blu-ray 2.1 Home Cinema System. Now I noticed lot of people on here have blu ray cinema systems and a blu-ray player so im wondering although I can play blu-ray discs on my cinema systems, do I need a blu-ray player? Would I have a better movie experience if I bought a blu-ray player, also if I would need a blu-ray player then could anyone recommend me any decent ones. Thank You all for your time to read and reply to my questions, Sorry if the question has been anwsered already. Regards.

Re: Hi, Do I need a blu-ray player? Please help

I have recently bought a Sony BDPS360B and I am amazed at the difference from my old DVD player. I read a lot about the upscaling, and was quite sceptical at first. But I have to say I'm going through my collection of DVD's and re-watching them on my new player, there is definately a big difference, although when you watch a Blu-ray disk you don't want to ever go back to DVD.

The price always put me off getting a Blu-ray player, but now they have dropped in price considerably, almost halved actually in the past 2 months or so.

As you already have a Blu-Ray player there is no reason whatsoever to buy a stand alone one.

Surely there must be some reason why others seem to have a Blu-ray cinema system and a stand alone blurayplayer...

Yes, usually because standalone players are better quality than the combo units... also, standalone players are usually easier to obtain hacks, for example to make region free.

If you have got money to burn then a stand alone would be better as long as you got a top quality one.You would not see a lot of benefit buying the Sony 360 (which is the player I own) The 360 is a great piece of kit, especially for the money you can get it for now, but it won't be a massive upgrade on what you already own.
Personally, I would rather spend the money on Blu-Rays.
