I am looking to purchase a Blu-Ray player to complement my existing setup (BDP-320) but I am concerned as my old Pioneer only supports up to 1080i / 720p. While all the kit is Pioneer, I am not sure if Blu-ray insist on a full 1080p / 24fps standard or can it be setup to output a feed that is compatible with my Pioneer.

I have no problems at all with my TV so am reluctant to upgrade it and plays Sky HD perfectly.

Does anyone else have this setup or should I forgot Blu Ray until I am ready to upgrade my Plasma?
