I currently have a Pioneer DV-868 and a Sony BD-S350. I was think of selling them both and my eldest child to get an Oppo BD-831. Since this is never going to happen I was wondering if an upgrade from my 868 to an Oppo DV-983 would be a smart move in the short term. Then in a year maybe Oppo will have their act together, and the value of my eldest child will have improved. My guess is I could get £100 for my 868 and an 983 should be available for £160, so £60 difference.

It looks like all the Oppo fans have abandoned the DVD forum for Blu-Ray. On a similar point would an Arcam DV135 be a noticeable upgrade of my Pioneer 868. Specifically with regard to video processing but I also want to retain SACD and DVD Audio capability.

Note - The 868 failed the MI III test of the Vatican wall.
