Toshiba XDE600 Faulty HDMI port

Just received my Toshiba XDE600 DVD player but it has a faulty HDMI port. The DVD player is paired to a Sony KDL40W2000 LCD TV which functions with SKY HD and PS3 through the HDMI inputs on the TV. However with the Toshiba XDE600 only displays a static scrambled picture.

I have tried every resolution setting on the DVD player by using the SD composite cable to get a functioning pic so I can get into the settings, nothing works on the HDMI output however, with just the static scrambled picture.

Please advise any tips or is this a case of dodgy HDMI handshake / tosh build quality.

Used my 500 with multiple tv's with no prob (inc a 2007 Sony like yours) sounds like you have a duff one, if the cables deff not to blame.

Mine was the same. Sent back to Superfi who have now advised there is a fault on all of them!

Really? They told me its the multi-region causes the hdmi output to break, and that they'll swap over for a region 2 unit. Apparently its only the mr that causes problems, the players themselves are fine.

Was the multi-region function programmed in through the remote - and if so is there maybe a way to switch back to a factory reset that would allow the HDMI to function again I wonder.

Bought miy xde-600 from Argos - no problems with it. When you say there is a fault on all of them, do you mean all of those supplied by Superfi? Probably best to be a bit more specific here. Do Superfi make the players multi-region before they ship them? Mine is just region 2

The players Will work via HDMI providing that the unit is kept at Region 2, it only stops functioning once the upgrade is done which is why We are not selling them as a Multiregion unit anymore,
Hope this clears up Your enquiry,
Regards,

@ Superfi

Thats just pants, the xde software is identical to 500, it even supposed to deal with ntsc better. Looks like I won't be considering the 600 if my 500 goes down.

Anyone heard any update on the issue with this player becoming faulty when made Multi-Region being fixed?

The 600 is cheaper than the 500 in most cases and the USB port is a big plus.

Cheers
