| Re: Optical output from SACD and DVD-A as multichannel
Hi,
I've a feeling you are out of luck on that one - multi-channel sacd and dvd-a need a pretty meaty connection (bandwidth wise), so for a direct multi-channel digital connection something like fire-wire, HDMI or Denon's 'Denon-link' is needed.
Both SACD and DVD-A are copy protected too, so that puts more demands on the transmission technology (and limits on what manufacturers were allowed to connect together digitally).
if you what to use a pre-hdmi receiver or surround processor (assuming it has something like an analogue 5.1 pass thru mode) - you would have to use the multi-channel analogue outs from the player instead. Most multi-channel SACD/DVD-A players will have those.
