Daewoo 3500 VCR/DVD Combo Region Free ?

Just picked up this machine from Currys for £99.
Seemed like a good idea as my upstairs video had packed up, and a dvd would be nice too....
Seems to be a good machine, however, making it region free seems to be harder!
Anyone know how to do this? Hopefully via the remote control...
I've seen codes for other Daewoo machines, but these don't seem to work on this one!

Cheers

I also have bought one. I thought the hack was open DVD drawer then press 0520 up arrow down arrow left arrow right arrow.

But this does not seem to work.

Can anyone help??

Question

Chaps

Thinking of buying the mother one of these, so I can send copies of granchildren on DVD or SVCD. Does this machine play DVD-Rs or SVCD by any chance ?

Cheers

Def. Plays DVD-R's (as a DVD) as I tested one last night. Also played MP3's off a CD-R so it reads CD-R's OK.

The box says VCD and SVCD, but I'll test it tonight and let you know the results...

Cheers

Right. Had a play last night. Played the following.

MP3's on CDR and CDRW
DVD on DVD-R and DVD-RW
VCD on CDR and CDRW
SVCD on CDR and CDRW

Also stuck in a CDR with a few MPG files on it, and the "browser" windows opened and it allowed me to play them! (Alas, it ignored the DIVX and AVI files)
Seems to me, it will play most things on a shiny 8cm disk.
Also, IIRC the box does'nt mention JPG's, but in the filter settings on the browser, JPG's are mentioned. Did'nt have a CD of pics to try though.
Not sure how to video a DVD though, would be nice to transfer the home movies onto video for the "older" members of the family!
All it needs is a region hack, and it will be the best £99 i've spent in ages!

Hope this helps

Just to finish off.
Put some JPG's on a CDR last night, viewed OK, big pictures were cropped and small ones were shown small. (Though the zoom function works on pictures).
If you were going to use it to show off the family photos, you would need to choose your resoloution carefully.
Pressing play instead of enter when you select the picture starts a slideshow.

Cheers.
