blue ray query advice needed please!

blue ray query advice needed please!
I am thinking of purchasing a laptop with blue ray on but i have since been told that they will be phasing blue ray out in a couple of years?

is this true?

the laptop will play dvds aswell as blue ray but i'm a bit worried at wasting money on a nice latop to play something thats going to be obselete. Its only bout a extra £70 for the laptop with the blue ray drive.

I'm more curious if this is true than anything!
