Player for Denon A1HDA and JVC 750 combination

Hi,

I am in the fortunate position of installing a cinema room in my house.

I currently have a six year old system of Panasonic Plasma, Denon AVC-A1SR and DVD A-1 as display / amp / DVD player. I have been very pleased with them all. But in the HD era feel I need to upgrade all the components.

I am currently planning to get a JVC 750 projector and a Denon AVC-A1HDA amplifier. But am unsure about Blu Ray player. Denon don't seem to have anything to match with the A1 yet. So I am considering a Pioneer BDP-LX91.

What do people think of this combination? Is there a more appropriate Blu Ray player for such a system? And if I go with the Pioneer player would I be best off partnering it with the Susano LX90 amplifier instead of the Denon?

Thanks

Hi,

Player to feed HDMI into the Amp and then 'normal' cables to my venerable Monitor Audio Gold speakers.

Thanks

You prefer the Pioneer or the Oppo? What are the distinguishing factors?

Thanks again

Re: Player for Denon A1HDA and JVC 750 combination

Hi Colin,

I take it you've seen the Denon A1UD :-

Denon - DVD-A1UD-K - Reference Class Universal Blu-ray Player (Black)-

This really is the perfect match for the AVC-A1HDA, I've got the Pioneer LX91 and a JVC 750 and as good as the 91 is the A1UD moves things on again.

I was lucky enough to have the A1UD at home for a couple of weeks and I was really amazed at the quality of the picture the A1 produces, that's not to say the LX91 is bad, far from it, but spending time with the A1 has convinced me to sell my LX91 and move onto the A1UD, I know it is extremely expensive but with the setup you have then it really would be worth demo'ing the LX91 and the A1UD.

Also Denon will be launching the 4010 soon which replaces the the 3800 which price wise will be more comparable to the LX91.

Re: Player for Denon A1HDA and JVC 750 combination

Hi,

I would really like to go with the A1UD player. But the 4,500 GBP is pretty steep by any standards. Also, not entirely sure where I would get a demo.... (I am in London every week).

Thanks

I'd give TLC Broadcast a ring :-

Audio-Visual Reference Studio | Home Cinema Specialist

They are in Borehamwood, excellent customer service, give them a ring 1st though as I think that their demo A1UD is with AVForums for a review.

Re: Player for Denon A1HDA and JVC 750 combination

Vipers has been hankering after an A1UD for sometime now, so ColinII, if you buy one you get a pet snake as part of the deal. Vipers will come and live with you. But it'll be cupboard love, he'll only love you for your Denon. LOL.

Test all these players in your own home with the kit you plan to partner it with. I'd consider the Arcam AVR600 alongside the Denon AVC-A1HDA. They're the only two amps I'd look at. I chose the Arcam because I loved the sound and couldn't afford the Denon. With recent bug fixes, it could be the way to go.

Similarly I bought the Oppo which I feed digitally into the Arcam and couldn't be happier. I couldn't see or hear any difference between the Oppo and the Denon DVD3800BD and that's why testing these players in your own home is so important. Even with the price of the Denon now down below £800 I'd still buy the Oppo everytime.

It's what you personally find works for you that matters most.

Re: Player for Denon A1HDA and JVC 750 combination

My Bags are packed, ready when you are Colin

I feel you should definately demo the Arcam AVR600 as I am very impressed with mine, saying that I feel I should have had a demo of the AVC-A1HD as that gets excellent reviews also, its always been hard to recommend the AVR600 due to all the bugs but looking at the list of fixes in the latest firmware it really looks like Arcam are on top of the problems now and especially when you compare the price of the 600 against the A1HD it makes the 600 definately worth considering.

With the money you save by getting the AVR600 you can put that towards the A1UD
