Panasonic BD80 and not upscaled DVD

Hello,

I would like my BD80 not to upconvert DVDs. Is this possible? I set the output resolution using the HDMI Video Format setting. But setting this to 1080p means that it upscales my DVDs to 1080p. Is there a way to have the DVDs output resolution at 576 and have BD output at 1080p of course?

Thanks

Ron

Hi Ron.
The only way to stop scaling (not deinterlacing though) is to set the player to 576p but as you've gathered,BD will need a resolution change (1080p) so makes this option a bit of nuisance really. (576i over HDMI can't be selected might be worth the hassle if that was there)
To be honest i would just leave the player in 1080p.....of course that's up to you.
All the best.

It's a bit a shame, if you have a quality scaler in your TV (your Pioneer for example ), and you end up using the rubbish ( rubbish is a little harsh, but I find this pretty annoying ) scaler in the Panasonic.
