Should i get Sony 250 or pay extra for the 360 or LG370?

Hi there

I am currently looking to get a bluray player

My local PC World as the Sony 350 at a bargain clearance price of £99 and I will get this if people think its still worth having. The options I were considering was the Sony 360 or the LG 370

Budget is less than £200 as I will be buying a new TV shortly too

Cant say I know too much about various file formats but will probably get to know more soon

I would like to know the pros and cons of buying these models. But basically wouldn't want to buy something eg 350 which is an old model to find out i was already behind the game and regret it.

I picked up a Sony S350 a few weeks back from currys in the £99 clearance.

I don't think the S360 is much different apart from having Wi-fi is it?

Wi-fi will be the S560.

The S360 can decode dts master audio and has slightly quicker loading times but for £99 I'd definitely go for the S350, it's a steal

I have a full wired gigabit Lan and an AVR that decodes DTS-MA so the S350 for £99 suited me

The DG910 AVR I have only accepts lpcm hence the 360 for me otherwise I'd have saved the money and went for the 350 too

Bad news when i went back they only had the display model and it wasnt boxed

Good news is I got it for £50, apparently the price has been dropped today to clear

So checkout PC world for any remaining stock

Update

Just downloaded manual (as that wasn't supplied) and released that they have given me wrong remote. I have rmt-b104p which looks to be from the 360 so is minus the eject button but arent too worried

Wowsers is this for real (did you get it for £50 because it was the ex-display unboxed or is the clearance price itself £50!

I'm popping in to my nearest PC world in a minute (only 5 minutes from where I work). have checked with the Mrs to see if she would kill me if I walked in the door with a BR player. She said no.

Guy when to check stock then found they had one but said price had been dropped. If thats the case its all stores

It just scanned at till and came up at £49.97 though it does say ex display. In the past they dont take much off for that say 10 or 20 quid so this time i won

I didnt expect him to say £50 but snapped it up.

At the till both the guys siad they couldnt believe they had missed it

I also got HDMI cable which i dont think i should have got since the guy originally tried to sell me one

Gutted - but of course pleased for you

Last weekend I tried both the PC worlds near me plus a Tesco and 2 Currys stores to try and find a clearence one for £99 and just couldnt.

Sometimes your luck is either in or out and thats all there is to it.

If anyone has spotted any left for sale anywhere in the North east of England then please drop me a PM.

True, I checked that local PC World and a Currys next door last night after work and nothing.They showed one on their computer for another Currys branch across town so i drove half an hour through rush hour traffic. Asked in store, still showed on computer at 49.97! Wasn't on shelf so they said it must be in their storeroom. He went off for a good 10-15 minutes to have a look (or it seemed like it) but no.

Was probably sitting under a TV in store somewhere in or a Sony Demo Pod. I found mine tucked away in a Sony Pod at the back of the store. Was a bit dubious about an ex-demo machine but the guy reckoned it had only been in there for 3wks and did look dust free and mint.

. I went back in there today to see if morning staff could find it but they didn't. I didn't notice anything on the shelves or a demo pod though... you win some you lose some...

Just a bit of info: you can get the Samsung BD1600 from Richer Sound VIP price at £119.47 and you can also get the Panasonic BD35 from Costco AT £114.97 went down from £166.99.

I would have bought the Panasonic from Costco but it doesn't fulfill all my requirement, I am after a player that can do wifi and stream from the PC the following formats mp3, mp4, h264, mkv.

Hope the above info will save someone some dosh.

I picked up a BD35 ex display from my local PC World today, with all bits & paperwork for £49.97 well chuffed.

I swear it loads quicker than my Sony 550 too.

Pretty much what happened to me 3 weeks ago. Went into my nearest pc world, their computer showed a stock of 2 sony 350s at £99. Two people went to look in the stockroom and came back empty handed saying it shouldn't have been showing on their computer. There seems to be quite a few people here getting these bargains.

To be quiet honest, I think these remaining Pannys and Sony's at currys and PC world @ £49.99 seem to be ex demos and the £99.00 are new in box with all the bits.

Pretty good price if you don't mind an ex demo BR player but these are very thin on the ground and only a handful of people got these, even the £99.00 ones seams to be very slim on the ground, so pot luck really.

Richer Sounds and Costco are the next best thing but hurry as these won't last for ever.
