Blu Ray player - £450 -£500

Hello

looking for a blu-ray player to use with an Arcam AVR350

Anything out there I should demo - output source will possibly be Themescene HD20

Possibly Pioneer LX71 -BUT! No LAN or version 2.0 (what is version 2.0 by the way and is it important?)

Any others out there, will be looking to output sound through analogue interconnects.

Many thanks

Bobby

Hi Bobby.
Profile 2.0 explained here not very exciting at the moment though i'm afraid.
If you can push your budget to maybe nearer £600? then you've got the new Denon 2010 or Oppo BDP-83.
All the best.

Isn't the Oppo an American player?

It is yes you can buy the player fully modded though (region free BD/DVD) plus the player is universal voltage (no stepdown needed) and comes with UK plug and 1 year warrany.
So basically just the same as buying a UK player really.

Yes it is...

But there are two options...

1. Buy the American version now from CRT multi-region modified...

so it will play any dvd or blue ray.

2. wait for the European version due late summer early Autumn apparently

There are also some clones floating around in the wind it seems.

Further info can be had from the oppo thread here http://www.avforums.com/forums/blu-r...-part-2-a.html

Re: Blu Ray player - £450 -£500

Thanks Kingfats - from equipment list it sound like you're a big fan off the Oppo gear - what percentage commission do you get

Excellent - read some pretty good reviews about this player. Sorry to be a pain but what is of the benefit of having the;

OPPO BDP-83R Universal Blu-ray Disc Player with Optional RS232

BDP-83R with optional RS232 port installed.

Do you know any retailers in the Warwickshire area where I can get a demo? looked on the web, no real joy - CRT are in Norwich, bit far to travel

Thanks for all your help

Re: Blu Ray player - £450 -£500

Gents, you've have been a great help.

Final question. I have my front 2 speakers Bi-amped, do I need to connect all 7 interconnects to run the sound or do I just go back to a 5.1 configuration and take offthe bi-amp?

is this the best connection for sound, is it any good through HDMI?

Re: Blu Ray player - £450 -£500

It might be worth waiting until Denon release the DBP 1610, which I think is due for release in September, and I think is set to be priced at £500, and will be Denon's new entry level blu-ray player. I think there is more information on it at: www.hifix.co.uk
