Re: Blue Ray HD movie with video glass

Looking at the specs (pun intended !) for these video glasses shows that even the most expensive pairs (from this particular website) have a 'screen' resolution of only 640 X 480, with the cheaper ones being only 320 X 240 !

They also only connect via composite video, which is the lowest quality signal which any Blu-ray player will output, and is sent at 720 x 576 maximum (I believe).

Compared with HD at 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080, they would be almost pointless, from a picture quality perspective !

There you Go I've fixed your question
People on here are very helpful, but it helps if you make some sense with your questions.

Head Mounted Displays are available in higher resolutions but are rare and VERY Expensive, Most manufacturers/distributors are based in the 3D visualisation markets, where the ability to feed each eye with a seperate image for Active Stereo 3D imagry means they can command the ultra high prices these HUD's cost. Of course any Hi Resolution Stereo HUD can also take and dislpay a 2d image.
If you've never worn one of these, I can say they are still Heavy and uncomfortable and are a long way from something I would use to watch movies or TV on a regular basis. Of course new very expensive OLED based models are arriving (Emagin do some) but it's still not a comfortable way of watching a movie.
There is a list of manufacturers here Virtalis - Consultancy, application development, hardware and software for virtual reality, simulation, and advanced visualisation. - Head Mounted Displays

With such small screens in these glasses, I'm not sure the picture quality would be that much worse at 640x480 as the pixels will be very close together in a small screen.

Afterall, the PSP only has a much larger screen but has a 'screen' resolution of only 480 x 272, & it gives a great picture.

Sorry but yes the quality is much worse, I use a 1024x768 set for Stereo viewing (Work!) and it's minging. The eye point of the screen is only about 2 inches the are very close to your eyes.

Re: Blue Ray HD movie with video glass

Wow, didn't realise that they would be quite that close to your eyes.
Probably are really bad for your eyes if using over a prolonged period of time...I get a bit of eyestrain just using a normal monitor after a long day, can't imagine how bad it is with these

Most units are adjustable but unless you can get them close to your eyes it's just like watching a small crap LCD tv at the other end of the room Never mind the effect of things moving in your peripherals.
