Philips BDP-7300 vs. BDP-9100

Does anyone know if BDP-9100 has any features above the BDP-7300 except the 21:9-mode?

Thanks!
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I have the BDP9100/12 BR but I do not have the 7300 to make any comparisons.
However 9100 plays mkv files with its factory firmware (no new firmware has been released so far) and shifts subtitles brilliantly if you select 21:9 screen format.
Other than that I believe that both BRs have the same architecture and therefeore share tha same capabilities.

Will it be any point for me to buy a 21:9 player when I have a 16:9 tv? Can I view 21:9 movies then?

The BD9100's main feature is the subtitle shifting in the picture but then again it plays a role only if you have a 21:9 telly. That is why philips introduced its new 9100 BR as a complement to its 21:9 telly.
As mentioned before other that this main difference I believe there is no any other obvious advantage over 7300BR unless we have both BR specifications and compare them ourselves.
To answer your question then if you do not have a CIH or a 21:9 telly and still want a philips BR then go for the 7300. It is a bit cheaper as well.

With the latest firmware upgrade for the BDP-7300 that adds support for 21:9 Cinema aspect ratio, subtitle shifting and playback of MKV files there are no differences feature wise compared to the BDP-9100 anymore.

To read more about the newest firmware upgrade for the BDP-7300 then see this PDF file:
