Any benefit to this?

Hi all,

Just started looking at Blu Ray players and have a simple question.

I currently own an Arcam AVR200 (its getting on) and am looking at two panasonic Blu Ray players, the DMP-BD80 with 7.1 analogue output or the DMP-BD60 without 7.1 output. (The model numbers are from OZ)

I guess the question is, is there any benefit of using the processing of the blu ray player over that of my amp?

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary.
The main benefit with the BD80 is the Multi-analogues connect them up for TrueHD and DTS-MA,optical will be DD/DTS 5.1 but of course then you don't have the hassle of setting up speaker level/bass management worries.
Some tips here.
BD80 guide.

Re: Any benefit to this?

Thanks for the links!

The more I have read the more it seems the purists would advide against using analogue?

Maybe a new amp is required? Unfortunately not an option, it would be nice to be able to try before you buy but with this product and the stockists in Oz that may be slightly difficult.

Thanks
Gary
