Re: sony gxd360 dvd recorder - not multi region

I can confirm that the method linked below for the Sony RDR-GXD360 worked on mine. In that I can now play region 1 and 2. Haven't tested for other regions because I don't believe I have any other disc types. I am pretty sure it is region free though from reading the threads here.

As said somewhere else the REMOTE.TXT file mustn't contain spaces in the numbers, no word wrapping and there should be a carrage return ie [enter] after the last line (line 5) in the file. I have uploaded the file that worked for me.

I'd also like to point out that it was after step 9 that I got the "TIMER OK" message.

Hope this helps anyone interested.

Thanks goes to the useful people here.

@ Admin, Mods- I thought I saw a library type thread somewhere listing all the different models region decoding was available for. For some reason I can't find that now, so please update/move/edit this post as you see fit.

Thanks again.

Re: sony gxd360 dvd recorder - not multi region

I have recently moved to the UK from the US and purchased a GXD360. I am trying to play my US DVDs. I did the infrared download of the file and recieved the "Timer OK" message. However, when I try to play a US DVD I still get the message "Playback prohibited by region code". What else do I need to do?

Re: sony gxd360 dvd recorder - not multi region

I did make several attempts to get to the point of "Timer OK" ... you did run the codes through twice as per instructions? (can't remember what I did exactly now). Sorry, no help really.

Re: sony gxd360 dvd recorder - not multi region

Go to any SONY shop and they'll make it REGION free, like my SONY recorder. They charged £10 and it takes approx 2 mins. You can't do it yourself with the remote supplied

Unplug it from the mains to store the new settings! Otherwise it won`t work.

Re: sony gxd360 dvd recorder - not multi region

I was recently given this from a mate, which for me is fine, as it's multi region for playing, but when recording from an NTSC VHS, it displays a grey screen and a black bar.

Is there a hack that can make it multi region recordable? Any help is appreciated.
