Kameleon should be fine - check this post :-

fantastic, thanks for getting back so quickly.

Just to double-check, the post you link to talks about a Blu-ray player - are you saying the same process and codes should work with my portable DVD player too?

Well the Panasonic Blu-Ray Player hacks only make the Blu-Ray Players DVD Region-Free anyway and the codes lsited have been able to make some Panasonic DVD Players Region-Free - can't say for sure whether it will necessarily be applicable to your player model.

Also see this post :-

Well I'll give it a go anyway - it can't do any harm to try, can it? If I have no luck, I'll go for those remote things off ebay.

thanks once again for your help and your swift responses

Hello to all of you,
I have an old Panasonic DVD-RV40 dvdplayer in Europe so it is a region 2.
I would like to watch USA region 1 dvds on it.
Is it possible to change the player to region free or change it from region 2 to region 1?
Thanks for your help in advance,

Thanks for your help! Does it mean that for 20 GBP I can make the model playing any region dics? If I am right it would worth it as the cheapest region free models cost more than that price. Please tell me what you think. Thanks again,

Yeap unfortinately that age of player needs a firmware update from a service dvd and codes entered via its own remote to enable all regions, you cannot use the standard Panasonic remote hack for this age of model :-(

I've managed the hack on my BD60 with relative ease with a One for All URC 3940 remote.

I used the following procedure, which I have adapted from several previous posts (thanks left where appropriate) as it needed mainly 5 digit codes, and only the power button is illuminated.

To prepare:
1. select DVD device on remote
2. hold magic button until the Power button blinks twice
3. enter device code 20490 (Power button blinks twice)

program buttons with the following codes:

1. 00191
2. 00120
3. 00065
4. 00180
5. 00143
6. 00155
7. 00122
8. 00117
9. 00129
0. 00123

using this technique:

1. hold magic button until the Power button blinks twice
2. press 994 (Power button blinks twice)
3. press magic
4. enter 3 digit code from above
5. press button (1,2,3 etc..) where to program it (Power button blinks twice)
6. repeat steps 1 to 6 for all keys.

Switch on DVD player, make sure theirs no disc in it.
Press the One For All Remote buttons in the following sequence
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0

If all works ok the Blu Ray player will reboot
When its finished it will not actually tell you its region free, just simply try it with different region DVDs.

I will use the One for all to programme my Harmony(just in case I need it again) and I will be selling in the For Sale forums the One for all remote complete with programmed codes LINK HERE. Not for profit I hasten to add, just to cover my costs.

Cheers for a great forum.

Hi All
My EZ27 multi region has died and the repair man says its needs a whole new ram disc assembly costing 150 quids (ouch)

So I am looking at the DMR-EX773EBK which is 214 from Dixons. Could someone kindly help me with the codes or ISO to make it region free please?

Thanks so much
Craig

I got a question. I got a BD-65 and kameleon URC 9960 in USA, and I'd like to make it DVD-region free. I could control the Blu-ray player now but somehow I just could not reprogram the numeric keys to these codes. All the instruction I found are for European model kameleon (I think). Could somebody help? Thanks a lot.

AFAIK you cannot hack it with the supplied remote - you need to send the codes listed in that link in sequence using another programmable remote =- e.g. a One-For-All....

Thanks for the prompt reply, however, what are the codes for this Panasonic unit and once they have been entered, can i revert back to the manufacturers remote for general use?

The codes listed are suitable for a Kameleon/One-for-All and the manufacturers remote will continue to work fine afterwards.
