Having been searching for sometime, I finally have a working region free hack for this compact little player. This works 100% successfully for the Sony SR90 DVD player (DVP-SR90 / DVP-SR90B). In order for this hack to work, you will have to send infra-red codes to your player using a OneForAll remote. The steps to prepare the remote with the required "service codes" can be found below. I have successfully used this hack with a OneForAll 4 (URC 7740) and OneForAll 5 Digital (URC 7555). To be honest, most recent OneForAll remotes should be more than capable of performing this hack if they support setup code 0533. You could look around for a cheap remote and check the manual on the OneForAll website to confirm code 0533 is listed under the DVD section of the manual. /// Preping the remote /// 1. Firstly, you will need to prepare your OneForAll remote with the service codes it is going to send to the DVD player to unlock it. Follow these steps - * Press the DVD button on the remote * Hold down the Magic button until the unit performs a double LED flash * Configure your remote by entering the code 0 5 3 3 2. Now verify that both the official Sony remote control and your OneForAll remote control can power your DVD player on and off. 3. Program your OneForAll remote with the following instructions: * Hold down the Magic button until the unit performs a double LED flash * Configure your remote using the code 9 9 4 (or 0 0 9 9 4 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the Magic button once * Configure your remote using the code 1 8 9 (or 0 0 1 8 9 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the number 1 button once, a double LED flash should occur 4. Program your OneForAll remote with the following instructions: * Hold down the Magic button until the unit performs a double LED flash * Configure your remote using the code 9 9 4 (or 0 0 9 9 4 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the Magic button once * Configure your remote using the code 2 5 5 (or 0 0 2 5 5 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the number 2 button once, a double LED flash should occur 5. Program your OneForAll remote with the following instructions: * Hold down the Magic button until the unit performs a double LED flash * Configure your remote using the code 9 9 4 (or 0 0 9 9 4 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the Magic button once * Configure your remote using the code 0 9 5 (or 0 0 0 9 5 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the number 3 button once, a double LED flash should occur 6. Program your OneForAll remote with the following instructions: * Hold down the Magic button until the unit performs a double LED flash * Configure your remote using the code 9 9 4 (or 0 0 9 9 4 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the Magic button once * Configure your remote using the code 2 2 1 (or 0 0 2 2 1 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the number 4 button once, a double LED flash should occur 7. Program your OneForAll remote with the following instructions: * Hold down the Magic button until the unit performs a double LED flash * Configure your remote using the code 9 9 4 (or 0 0 9 9 4 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the Magic button once * Configure your remote using the code 0 7 9 (or 0 0 0 7 9 if your remote only accepts 5 digit codes) * Press the number 5 button once, a double LED flash should occur 8. Ensure there is no disc in your DVD player and place the unit into standby. 9. Press the buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on your OneForAll remote control, in order, one at a time. 10. The DVD Player will now power up. 11. Press the buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on your OneForAll remote control again, in order, one at a time. 12. Your DVD player should return itself to standby mode. 13. Next time your DVD player is powered up you will be region free! 14. Remove the batteries for a significant period of time to wipe the programmed codes on your OneForAll remote. You are now good to go! |

I was unable to obtain either a URC 7740 or a URC7555, was able to get a URC-7556 which supports code 0533. However, this unit does not seem to give a 'double flash' after numbers, 1,2,3,4,5, are selected at each stage of preparation. Any ideas please? Many thanks |

Thank you - the hack in the OPs post worked for me using the URC-7960 One for All remote on the Sony DVP-SR90 and then on the Sony BDP-S570B too. I think there is a mistake in ocolocd's post though - the code for key 2 is 00255 and not 00225. That tripped me up for a while! The set up bit and flashes were a bit different on my remote which confused me for a long time . This is how it worked for me:1 Hold Magic until the light around OK flashes twice 2 Select dvd using the arrows on the top of the remote 3 Type 0533 - I think the light around OK flashed twice. The remote then works to power the DVP on and off. Next: 1 Hold Magic (blink blink) 2 994 (blink blink) 3 Press Magic 4 001891 (blink blink) 1 Hold Magic (blink blink) 2 994 (blink blink) 3 Press Magic 4 002552 (blink blink) 1 Hold Magic (blink blink) 2 994 (blink blink) 3 Press Magic 4 000953 (blink blink) 1 Hold Magic (blink blink) 2 994 (blink blink) 3 Press Magic 4 002214 (blink blink) 1 Hold Magic (blink blink) 2 994 (blink blink) 3 Press Magic 4 000795 (blink blink) Then from standby with no DVD loaded: 1 Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the DVP turns on 2 Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the DVP turns off. Now works for R1. After I'd done the DVP-SR90 I took the control through to my Sony BDP-S570B and did this: 1 turn it on with Sony remote (the One for All doesn't work) 2 press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the One for All remote (the light in the middle of the BDP starts flashing here) 3 turn it off with the Sony remote and that now plays region 1 dvds too ![]() I now feel all ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you btw - I didn't buy any particular All for One remote - this seems to work for all of them? Maybe I was just lucky. |
