Yamaha DV-SL100 - Multi region hack Info and help

hi people

after reading this thread Yamaha DV-SL100 - Multi region hack required does this turn the unit into a region free player fro ever or do you have to repeat this process each time or reverse it to play other regions etc?

to save posting in other sections can anyone tell me about xbox and laptop and pc's... in general do they all not play any region? i thought computers would but it doesnt seem to be the case
