XDE600 Region Hack

Does anyone know if the XDE500 hack works on the XDE600 - or, if not, there's another hack that works?

Thanks!
Dave

Re: XDE600 Region Hack

Not come across one as yet, but I should imagine it'll be like the xde500.

Re: XDE600 Region Hack

Hi guys,

I've been looking for the specific unlocking instructions for a while. The XDE-500 unlock code does not work with XDE-600, I assure you. The truth is out there... but we might spend some time looking for it! :-)

I can confirm the hack posted by denrock, August 26 is fully functional:

- open the tray
- type 2403960
- press 9
- close the tray
- turn the player off and back on again

This procedure has worked flawlessly on two players - one of mine, one belonging to a friend.

I'm waiting for my 600 to arrive. Please report success or otherwise with this hack. Thanks

http://www.avforums.com/forums/dvd-p...hdmi-port.html

states that SuperFi are no longer selling as Region-Free. Setting them to region free causes problems with the HDMI connection and renders the unit useless. Superfi have removed the region-free wording on their web site. It seems this unit will only be able to view Region 2 disks.

Looks like I bought a lemon. If seems if you try to make it region free (and nobody appears to have the codes other than SuperFi) that you just get snow.

Geeeeeezzz

What a dog's breakfast!

Now we have a post that says the machine will be totalled by this hack but the hack is posted as having worked on 2 machines entirely satisfactorily.

Can the original 'Hack OK' posters please come back in and confirn or otherwise the problem with HDMI as our man has posted?

I'm following this thread with interest as I was seriously considering this player before I read about the MR problems. I have a lot of R1 disks so finding a MR player is essential.

I found the following statement on another forum ""From past experience units purchased from the USA are only equipped with an NTSC decoder, whereas units for the Uk/Europe have NTSC and Pal decoders built in, therefore it would not be possible to multi-region the USA purchased unit." (Toshiba XD-E600 (Análises, opiniões, dúvidas, etc) - Página 3 - HT Forum)

Could it be that Toshiba are producing regional variations and that Superfi are selling a unit that is somehow cut-down in spec (components) to other UK sellers? After all their price is considerably cheaper...?

The previous poster should answer this for us

A previous poster seems to be a SuperFi staffer. His post included " we [my underline] have ..... multiregion"

So we look to him to answer whether these are Euro or US spec machines.

I've ducked out of the issue, in the end, by going for an LG DRT389H UPSCALING DVD PLAYER RECORDER.

There are hacks a'plenty about for this LG and as Tesco Direct has now taken to eBay as its outlet for 'returns' [with full 12 months' g'tee] and they are putting the LG out for under a ton, delivered and I got quite a bit more than I expected for the original Chrysler ICE from my Jeep, I reckoned the extra ~£50 for the recorder, with a known OK hack, was a safer bet than messing with the maybes that seem to surround this Tosh.

Meanwhile, I recommend forgetting about this Tosh unless you are a strictly Region 2'er. Plenty of other hackables of every stripe out there.

Still no MR hack?

Hi all, just got myself a bargain xde600 from currys.digital - £30, coz a) the remote is missing & b) the sales guy thought it was the xde500 model; so was thinking I'd got a great deal. However, I'm a bit concerned there still isn't any more info on a region hack.

Before I try the code posted above, I wonder if anyone knows if there is a factory reset procedure to bring the player/HDMI back to life, should it all go pear shaped

I would hate to render it useless so soon, even though it was a bargain & I'm too much of a coward to be the guinea pig tester

Any ideas guys & gals?

Cheers, Stu

Hi Guys, Just bought a Toshiba xde600kb 2day and discovered it only plays Region 2 discs. Found a code that will enable the player to become multi region. Switch on player and with dvd tray open enter the following code using your remote 35147199. Now turn player off the dvd tray will automatically close. Turn player back on it will now be multi region. Good Luck and enjoy :0)

I just bought an XDE600KB from Curry's near London. It's normally only region 2. This hack worked for me on the first try. Thanks!

Thanks a lot wizzie1508. After months of frustration finding a hack for my dad's XDE600, this works a treat. He's very pleased now that he can play his R1 discs

Don't they make like hard?
