Silvercrest KH 6521/22

Just picked up one of the cheap DVD players from Lidl today, it's got the usual features, including HDMI upscaling.

I previously bought another silvercrest player (no HDMI) and made it region free very easily... The same code that I've found for the KH 6519/20 doesn't work on the KH 6521/22

As it seems to be a new model, I can't seem to find anything about it anywhere on the net.

I've tried the following hack that worked on my other player, and is supposed to work on the KH 6519/20 (previous version of mine I assume due to the model numbers).

Open tray, take out disc
Press 9999 (region should be displayed on screen) wait 2 secs, press 9 again
Close tray
Switch off, then back on

Doesn't work, after pressing 9999, I get no region code displayed, simply displays the 'open' message again to tell me the tray is open.

Anyone have a region free hack that works for this player please.

Re: Silvercrest KH 6521/22

I have also just bought one of these solely for the purpose of watching movies using a usb memory stick but it does not want to read avi files larger then 1gb. Is this normal or do I have a duff player ? It does the same with avi files burnt on a disc if the files exceed 1gb it don't want to know. Any advice please.

Can't even see this model listed on the silvercrest website and can find no contact details for them... which is breach of UK trading laws.

Not really as it is here and all contact details and product specs are there. the address is on the rear of the operations manual as well.

Mine has played AVI files up to 1.8GB in size so there is something wrong with yours. Although it does take around 5-10 secs to display it.

I take it that's the parent company, as I was looking on the silvercrest.de site and it wasn't listed under any region, nor were contact details.

Re: Silvercrest KH 6521/22

For all you trying to find a multi region hack

Try this hack I found... It has worked on 3 so far..

1. Turn on player
2. open disk tray
3. Put DVD from another region in drive
4. Close drive
5. Press play
6. watch movie.

Mine plays region 1,2 and 4 straight from the box.

Re: Silvercrest KH 6521/22

Thanks for the useful advice there scooter. Unfortuntely there are some DVDs that actually ARE region encoded and not just labeled for a particular region.

If I put the DVD in my PC it asks me to change region and it wont play on my TV with built in DVD player as well as my LITEON DVD recorder so I take it that the movie IS region encoded. I have tried with Batman dark knight (region 1) as well as storm of the century (region 1). My mate tried one of his that was region 4. All bought from the same store.

Also bought the same model, emailed Kompernaß Handelsgesellschaft mbH and was told the following...

'' Hallo Mr. Doran,

It is not possible, since banned.

regards

i..A: Gerd Sackers ''

Found out that silvercrest is distributed here in Ireland via a company called Irish Connection, so email them but was told the following

'' Sorry Noel,
for licensing reasons we can not pass on the unlocking code
kind regards

Irish Connection
Unit 2
Finglas Business Centre
Jamestown Road
Dublin 11 ''

So someone is lying to me, so there was a number on Kompernaß Handelsgesellschaft mbH for Irish Connection, so rang them but there not back working till the 4th Jan but left a message for them to ring me back. So will let yee know how in get on...

Have returned them dvd player since but will still try find out the code for yee....

I Then just got this

Hi Gary,
well, the advance of the modern DVD has gone so far that almost all of them are multi region.
The manufacturer hasn't supplied us with the code because of the before mentioned licensing reasons, but I'm convinced that there is a code out there.
Years ago, you would open the hatch, type in the 5 digit code e.g. 99999 or 00000, change the 2(europe) into 9 (all regions) and than close the hatch, done ! But nowadays we do not have the codes anymore, sorry !
kind regards

then press setup and turn off the player.
turn it on and it is region free
