Samsung BD-P1600 hack?

Hi, does anyone know how to get my Samsung BD-P1600 to play bluray A & B disks?

I've unlocked the DVD side to multiregion but can't find a hack to do the Bluray side.

Any ideas guys?

I'm pretty sure you cannot hack this for multi region blu ray at this time.

Re: Samsung BD-P1600 hack?

1) Press the POWER button on the remote to turn on the
machine (no disc in the tray).

2) Wait till the player has booted up and the Samsung logo
screen is displayed.

3) Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote twice, to open
then close the disc tray.

4) As soon as you see "No-Disc" displayed in the top left
corner, press the REPEAT button followed by the 5 digit code
for your current region as listed below.

(Mine was 57538 for region 2)

Don't press the REPEAT button for too long, just smoothly
press REPEAT 5 7 5 3 8.

If it doesn't work straight away, keep trying, mine worked
on the first go.

5) If you're successful, your current region code will be
displayed in the top left corner of the screen.

6) Press '9' to make your player region free.

7) Turn the player off, then on again and test with a
different region disc, or if you don't have one to test
with, just repeat the hack and instead of your old region
code appearing in the top left corner of your screen, you
should see '9' if you've been successful.

Seen this on another forum ive tried it on mine the p1650 but no luck so far but one guy said it took 20 goes before it worked.

I can confirm this works. Just be patient and eventually it will work. Just updated to new firmware and it worked!

Mine too. I keep getting the circle with line across, meaning there is no contact/response from the DVD player.
Spaced-Man - how did you get the dvd side to unlock?

Hi,

I can confirm this code does work for the Samsung BD-P1620.

I did however make the initial mistake of pressing the wrong repeat button on my remote, so I suggest for those it hasn't worked for, try using the other repeat button if you have one.

I can confirm it works with normal Region1 DVDs can anyone confirm for me that it also unlocks the other region for Blu-Ray as I don't have any Blue-Ray US or Canadian discs to try yet?

Brian

This worked for me first attempt. Excellent. Now I can play my collection (approx 300) of region 1 DVDs. I also have a dozen or so region A Blu Rays most of which played before implementing the hack anyway. But I can confirm the hack does NOT work for Blu Ray discs as those that refused to play before because of region incompatibility still will not play.

So what am I doing wrong

I also have a massive collection of Region 1 dvd that I cannot play as my Samsung BD-P 1600 simply wont respond to the suggested hack. Every time I press repeat I get, like so many others here, a red circle with a line through it.

I also got the red circle after pressing the repeat button but just ignored it and pressed the numeric buttons without a pause and hey presto .... there in the top left corner was the number 2

Unhappy I give up

Well I am delighted this hack works for others but it simply will not work for me and I have tried over and over and over.

Invalidates Warranty

Something that hasn't been mentioned on here. Changing the region or even just trying to change the region of the Samsung Blu Ray player invalidates the warranty and Samsung can see if it has been changed or attempted to change.

I cannot change the region on my 1600 but by trying I havew invalidated the warranty.

Worth considering.
