Hack Sony RDRHDX995B

Started implementing the hack from the sticky tried to sync both remote controls - a new OFA and the recorder remote - but only the OFA turns off the Sony - can I start again with the sony remote or reset it?

The hack also suggested setting the factory remote Command-Mode switch to DVD1, which is under the cover - I do not appear to have a Commmand-Mode switch or a cover that is removable on my remote control. I did set the commnad mode switch via the recorder menu to DVD1 as advised in the hack advice.

I think its the latter that is causing me problems.
