Ghostbusters £11.98
Seems a good price at Amazon if someone doesn't want to get it in Play's 2 for £22.

Re: Ghostbusters £11.98
Had to get it from Amazon on Saturday, because for the life of me I couldn't find another at Play worth getting. Tis' a fair price I believe.

You were right and that's why I pulled the trigger at amazon.
There is one title in the play list that is worth getting. It's nothing else but Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Re: Ghostbusters £11.98
Very disappointed in the PQ on Ghostbusters I'm afraid, very very grainy in places and the effects aren't holding up well at all... however, still a quality film and a bit improvement over SD DVD... so, enjoy...

The DVD looks awful in comparison. Rather have the grain than DNR'd.
DVD v BD comparison.

Re: Ghostbusters £11.98
Seriously... people have got to stop expecting pristine "life-like" (i.e. grain-free) clarity on every BD film. Otherwise we end up with ***** like the DNR-ed to hell Star Trek releases and Patton.
For what it's worth, Ghostbusters was always a very grainy film, if anything Sony is doing us a huge favour by NOT ruining their films with DNR, something I applaud them for. All you have to do is look at the second set of images in that DVD Times review - you can actually make out the fine lines on the "crackles" on the proton beam in that shot on the BD, while they're totally blurred out in the previous releases (especially the 2005 release).
From those screen-grabs, Ghostbusters is an upgrade I'll be making pronto - I personally hadn't expected to see such a dramatic improvement, but those shots prove me wrong (I own the original 1999 DVD).

Re: Ghostbusters £11.98
I'm not expecting grain free anywhere at all, what I'm saying is, there's a very noticeable difference from one scene section to the next, that ISN'T the intention of the director IMO because they happen within the same scene i.e. a scene with Bill Murray in flips to someone else, then flips back and he's now grainy with alot of breakup in the background.
To have such jumps in quality is a bit poor and I expect consistency in the film... if it's grainy it's grainy, not to be flipping around... the film I agree has a grainy look to it, it's not meant to be Transformers BUT there is poor quality film on the original material here and for me it was a little disappointing because of the lack of consistency especially considering it's meant to have been remastered so to me, it means the original film stock is damaged now?. However, yeah, the DVD was poor, so it's a major improvement.
At the end of the day, it's still a quality film, 8/10, so I'm not too bothered. Just warning people incase they expect it to be Transformers/Zodiac clear.

Re: Ghostbusters £11.98
Yeah, I've used them several times for various things as well (from a memory card through cheap Blu Rays to a PS3) and I've had no problems with them. Think I did have to wait a while for the last Blu Ray though, but they've always come good (got the PS3 for £269.99 back in 2007!).

Re: Ghostbusters £11.98
People must be sitting 2" from their screens.
This is one of the best looking 80's movies i've seen on Blu Ray.
Thanks god Sony didn't tamper with the original transfer.
Worth every penny BTW, anyone thinking of buying this.
