Well, 4 months in, and I don't mind saying I'm a bit bored now! Despite pulling back my defecit from last month, I only missed my 70k target by a measly 56G.

I've decided I'm going to take it easy during August - I did plan on going nuts with a load of kids games seeing as most of them can be done in around 4 hours, but I'm sick of playing junk as it is - I'm sat on around 40 games and I don't really feel like playing any of them. So this month is going to be different, I'll still be getting the gamerscore but it won't be my main aim, what I'm hoping to do is increase my completion score which currently sits at around 69% - so to do this, I'll have play those games I already own and with a bit of luck, finish them off so they can be sold - Kameo, Hitman, Simpsons, Monster Jam, The Darkness, Eragon (worst game ever BTW). Thinking about it - there's multiple benefits to doing this now...

1) The gamerscore will still be increasing
2) The completion rate will increase - I'm hoping to have it at 80% minimum from now on
3) Get rid of some games which can be used to fund the onslaught of new games that are on the way in the months running up to Christmas.

There's a lot of games I'm looking forward to, and I'll need same way to pay for them - Far Cry 2, Gears 2, Viva Pinata 2, Fallout 3, Little Big Planet...

There have been a few games I've enjoyed this month also - Bully, which I actually prefer to its big brother (GTA) and NASCAR wasn't too bad once I got my head around the car handling. While on the subject of car games, I've had a bit of a jump up the racing game leaderboard on MyGamerCard - I'm now sat at 13th worldwide out of nearly 1.3 million

Gamerscore Diary - Month 3.

Well, thats June out of the way, and I fell short of the 6K a month target by around 750G, and it would have been a lot worse if wasn't for one of the Madden games bleeding points like they normally do - Still, 15K in 3 months isn't too bad.

Well, thats June out of the way, and I fell short of the 6K a month target by around 750G, and it would have been a lot worse if wasn't for one of the Madden games bleeding points like they normally do - Still, 15K in 3 months isn't too bad.

July looks like being a big one, the last 2 months have been largely occupied with 2 games, and in the case of MGS4 I just couldn't pull myself away from it, even after completing it I went back for a 2nd go, so its Snake's fault I miissed my 6K target!

June saw the score tick over the 60K milestone, and to stay on target I'll have to hit 70K at the end of this month - seeing the score tick over another 10K is pretty motivational.

I had a it of a pleasant suprise a couple of days ago - I logged into MyGamerCard.net to see where I was in the world rankings - about 2,900 overall, and around 550 in the UK - what was quite eye-opening was the "Genre" leagues for different game types - I've always been a fan of racing games and was pretty suprised to see that out of 1.2 million, I was No. 31! So thats a new sub-quest - climb up that leaderboard, I'm only around 300G from breaking the top 25 which would put me on the first page.

I don't seem to have hit many games for 1000G this month - in fact only 2, Cars : Mater-National which I played with the boy as spectator and PGR4 which I'd already done most of anyway... this is mostly down to my early decision to play games I already own or rent for free - although I did buy Stuntman & Madden 07 for the princly sum of £13 fopr the pair courtesy of HMV's & Zavvi's sales...

So, finish off my current games (main targets are Madden 07, Lost, FIFA RTWC, Orange Box, Grid) and use the cash to buy some racing games... better get going then eh?

I failed to reach my monthly 6000G target this month, but seeing as I only missed out by 100G I'll forgive myself... still had a "spare" 500G from the previous month so still ahead of target!

I failed to reach my monthly 6000G target this month, but seeing as I only missed out by 100G I'll forgive myself... still had a "spare" 500G from the previous month so still ahead of target!

May did seem like it was going to be a lean month though - with GTA4 appearing right at the end of April I think I spent 2 weeks solid on it and I didn't even manage to nab 600G from it, so being able to rescue many more points from other games was a pleasant surprise.

June though, will probably be worse - I'm writing on MGS4 launch day which means anytime playing that will get me 0G! I have managed to break the 60K barrier now, but I'm thinking I might not get to the 64K target by the end of this month.

My strategy of completing my existing games so I can sell them to fund others is hard going - although the 3 month lovefilm trial has been worthwhile - Cars Mater-National & Scene It has been added a nice boost to the score and even the wife enjoyed Scene It as we could play against each other without complicated controls...

Well thats April out of the way, target was 6000G and I managed 6500G there or there abouts - was a bit of an anticlimax as I started like a house on fire and had 4K inside 2 weeks.
The main aim to begin with was to clear the games I already have, those I've not played in ages - got about 30-40 so there was little point in buying any others, although I couldn't resist picking up Avatar!

On the whole I think it went OK, managed 1K's from Burnout Paradise, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Amped 3 and got pretty close on quite a few others.

I think May could be a huge comedown though - GTA is consuming all my gaming time - it could well be a slow burner trying to get the full 1K! and next month could be a complete dead zone with MGS4 on the PS3, so I'd better get myself a float to keep in the "G till".

I've tried to identify which games from my current crop I get out of the way fast - I'm not planning on spending silly amounts of money on games simply for the points - any new games are to be bought by selling those I already have...

May's target is again 6000G which should get me to 58K... but it'd be useful if I could break into the 60's to give me some leway.

I've set myself a few mini-targets too, first are to get a few more 1000G games on my card, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, Kameo & Burnout Paradise are top of the list, in the case of the latter its only my lack of vision cam thats preventing me at the moment.

Another traget is to make it to the first page of the MyGamerCard leaderboard for racing games - I'm currently ranked 87th but only 2000G away from the top 25 but as I've got 2 NFS games in the cupboard (I have a round 30 games) it should be doable quite easy.

I've been looking on various websites about getting points quickly as I'm obviously not the first to this - xbox360achievements & achieve360points have both been useful and seen to point at the amercian sports games for easy points, and a lot can be got by simply letting the computer play for you.

One thing I'm coming to terms with is that I'm going to have to play some really REALLY crap games - its seems their only redeeming feature is that they offer a lot of points - BulletWitch for example.

I've been visiting the pre-owned section of many games shops too and there are some bargains to be had - PES6 for £3.99 for example and many shops offering 2 for £20 etc as well as Zavvi & HMV having new games for a tenner (Flatout, Fatal Inertia, Tenchu Z) but I have enough games to keep me going for now so I'm going to be sticking with them even if it slows my progress down initially...

Up until now, my gamerscore has been ticking over not too shabbily, but I've decided to set myself a target of getting into 6 figures by the end of the year.

I'm currently on 46K, so it doesnt take a maths genius to work out I need 54K over the next nine months - or 6K a month, or 1385G a week (more or less)

I might be mad for doing this, up until now I've tended to concentrate on trying to get 1000G from most games that I've played which has probably slowed me down a lot, like taking a couple fo days for 1 play through of far cry for a huge 15G...

Other factors are certainly going to throw a spanner in the works like building an extension (to house a games room!! :rotfl:) and a baby in September

Anyway, I plan to keep track of the points I've earned each month, and how - plus any thoughts regarding gaming when you're primary goal is the points, and not the enjoyment of simply playing.

I hope some of you find this interesting...

Current GS - 45,956G
Points aquired this month - N/A
"Run rate" required for coming month - 6000G
