Wooden spoon of the week prize

Posted 11-10-2007 at 5:18 PM by Ian J

I have the pleasure of my wife's company in October as she has the month off work and I decided to take her out to lunch at The Tame Otter which is a rather nice pub/restaurant run by the Mitchells & Butlers subsidiary Vintage Inns.

Having both ordered a chargrilled chicken and asparagus salad I was quite astonished when the waitress came out to us and said that they had no salad as the greengrocer hadn't delivered any.

This meant that half of the menu was now off...

I bought an expensive watch yesterday

Posted 11-10-2007 at 5:06 PM by Ian J

I bought a rather nice watch on Ebay and as the vendor would only accept a cheque I suggested that I drive the 170 mile round trip to Leighton Buzzard and pay him cash as the cheque could take forever with the Royal Mail dispute.

Whilst the M1 southbound was freeflowing there was an accident on the northbound carriageway and the tailbacks must have been over 10 miles so I decided to come back a different route.

Satnav is great as long as you know where you want to go...
