My car is being finished tonight! Already got engine running smoothly. So excited, but I'll have to wear engine in so only 3000rpm for me for the next 1000 miles.

Can't wait til those 1000 miles are up. Might have to take a few long trips out to start making a dent in that 1000 miles:thumbsup:

Ordered a brand new replacement engine off fleabay and the work has started. It's being done on the driveway at home by a friend in the trade and his colleague. Most of the extra bits are now removed from the car (manifolds, battery, starter, alternator) etc and the main part starts (and maybe finishes) this weekend. For now I'm driving round in a small car borrowed from a friend. Will probably post some pics at the weekend as been too dark in the evenings to photograph properly so far.

I'm soon(ish) to be the proud owner of a two-bedroom mid-terrace house in a nearby town.

The walls are painted some seriously garish colours and I'm definitely going to be doing some serious repainting in the short term which alone will probably give the place a whole new lease of life. I've got a garden for the all-important BBQ season (July 20th to August 10th isn't it over here in the UK?)

Watch this space in a couple of months for a thread on getting the lounge in order for some good quality time with my system.

Been house & flat viewing at the weekend, all ready with deposit etc. After finding the right property (a house needing a lot of work), had plans completely wiped out just before making the offer.

A chunk of deposit committed by my parents I was told to rely on all along including Sunday lunctime has been withdrawn by my father - planned, malicious and deliberately to cause maximum inconvenience to any property buying plans. My mum doesn't have access to the finances and is completely in disagreement with this.

Absoluteley gutted. Don't think I'll ever stop resenting him even if I get past the anger I have at the moment.

Anyway, 6 months of saving more should see me fine for the rest of the deposit I need - then I'll be out. For now I'll have to put up for another 6 months. It's going to be tough. I'm overtiming every opportunity I get at the moment to speed things up as much as possible.

Just a few months more......

Well, been looking at an upgrade for some time now, giving it just a casual thought, but things have picked up pace in the last few days and I find myself sitting here in my room now sans speakers.

The excellent RS6's and RS1's have just left the door on their way up to Nottingham with a nice chap called Richard who I'm confident will get a great deal of enjoyment out of them, and I'm down to just a pair of Kef IQ1's sitting on my TV stand.

Got to say to be honest that this room looks a little bigger than it's humble 3x3m seemed this morning, though it's not just the room that's feeling a little bit empty:god:

Nothing like retail therapy to cure that empty feeling - I've just put down deposit on a set of GS20's on special offer a few minutes before the offer ended. I'll be paying the outstanding balance over the next payday or two seperate to my saving (going to have to watch my spending more carefully now), so those spaces either side of my AV rack are just crying out for the GS20's that will adorn my room soon enough.

Well, not quite soon enough:suicide::)

Very happy with the upgrade and effectively I have my main lounge system (except for TV) ready for buying a place next year (depending on how the housing market behaves:)

The AVR280 becomes my main system AVR, with my AVR250 and the new KEF IQ1's going to my brother's room for the next 12 months til I buy a flat and have it as my own bedroom system. At £389, the AVR280 is ridiculously priced. Saves me £210 off my planned-for list of shopping to kit out a new place.....spent money to save money, love it!

Having my main kit in my 3m x 3m room is not easy as the bed's in the way of getting kit into the rack easily:suicide: Cue to a couple of hours getting evrything in place an connected neatly tonight.

My brother gets a suprise when he's back from abroad - Gone from just having a 15" TV at the other side of room, cheap DVD player and no speakers to an AVR250/DV89/Kef IQ1 and an HP Compaq Media PC.

Will probably consign the 32" Sammy LCD to his room and get my planned-for 40" Sammy series 8 at christmas.....watch this space:devil::devil:

Demo'd MA BR5's, but the RS6's stood next to them were too tempting for him. Walked out after an hour with a set of RS6's on order.

Set it all up tuesday and Phil demo'd to the rest of the shared house.

Impressed, you could tell by the grin

Another setup that starts with a budget plan and ends up going way further than originally intended:devil:

Phil splashed his card the other week to just get that, but now I've ended up doing a rack upgrade, seeling Phil my Partington Minim AV in order to get the Soundstyle Finewoods in Oak & Black gloss.

Next on was a Sony STR-DG910 Reciever, and now the cards there to order some MA radius and bronze to go with it.

Really on the hunt for some Bronze BR5's for £250, just being patient til I see a set local.

Can't get over MA RS8 purchase for another friend earlier in the year for a measly £325 in mint, really proud of that one, but finding a set of BR5's is proving tough.

Hopefully Santa'll present some sort of bargain on that front in time for christmas.
Partington Minim AV Rack has gone to a friend who's 'stoked' at it and his new 42" panel I recommended (Sharp Aquous LC42XD10E).

My AV setup is in bits at the moment, with the TV on one coffee table, and the media PC on another, using the TV's tinny little speakers fo audio.

To be honest, felt pretty sentimental about letting the Partington go, but think the Soundstyle'll fit in perfectly & will compliment the RS6's in light oak at the front.

....The rack had better arrive tomorrow!
