Enter password (9/10 left)

I for the second time since having my blackberry curve, have got the prompt "enter password" I try my usual passwords but they don't work. Also the letters are not asterixed out either like normal passwords, is this a bug?

The first time this happened it went to factory reset. I do not want this to happen again!!!!

I can't phone 02 as the phones are closed. Blackfeet have a premium rate number.

Anyway round this???
