UMA problem on 9700

Hi

I bought a Blackberry 9700 on Orange a couple of months ago. Shortly after I setup O2 Broadband in my flat and looked to make the most of the UMA connectivity/ signal boosting. I managed to connect Wifi very easily and noticed that the Blackberry's connection would switch between UMA and VOIP when I was in the flat.

In the last 7 days or so I noticed that the Blackberry is no longer displaying UMA or VOIP as a connection although the handset continues to be connected to Wifi. I called Orange about this and they said they do not currently offer the service of using UMA on an Orange Blackberry using an O2 Wifi connection. This does not seem to be correct given that I had been able to use the UMA and VOIP facilities in the preceeding weeks. Orange also recommended that I contact O2 to check whether the problem was at their end but I would think this is unlikely given that I have had no problems with my Wifi.

Can anyone help me out here?

It wouldn't surprise me if O2 have applied a block on UMA traffic over their network. They wont be too happy about supporting a competitors network.

I know their official line is they don't support it. And all networks actively monitor the traffic on their network and will not have any concerns in restricting traffic for services they don't support.

I agree. I read about this issue on money saving forum. ISP's have the power to turn off certain things, and while i can use UMA on my Virgin Media box without any problems, certain companies, ahem, O2, don't support it.
