I can sync contacts calender info etc. It's the media sync(itunes/WinMedia) that the phone's memory card isn't recognised. It doesnt even show as external hard drive on Windows!! I have uninstalled and reinstalled software on PC to no avail. Can u help please ladies & gents??

if i remember correctly, you need to go into settings and under memory make sure mass storage mode support is set to yes as well as auto enable mass storage mode when connected i set to yes. mine connects up fine when i hook up via usb. autoplay comes up for device hard drive as well as micro sd and if i open windows media player i can sync it with no issues...

Yeh you've probably got the mass storage permanantly turned off. Just switch it on and it'll detect as removable memory on your PC

Have you actually downloaded the media sync software (additional to the Desktop Manager)?

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Media Sync

Also, do you meet all the requirements for this to work....

System Requirements

To use BlackBerry® Media Sync, you must have the following:

BlackBerry Smartphone Requirements

* BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.2 or later
* A media card or on-board device memory3
* BlackBerry smartphone connected to the computer via USB cable

Operating System Requirements

* Windows Vista™ or Windows® XP SP2 or later, or Windows 7

Music Application Requirements

* iTunes® version 7.7.1 or later OR Windows Media® Player version 10 or later

yeah. BB media sync is installed and also using desktop version 5.1
Using windows xp sp3
iTunes 9.1 and my phone is running software 5.0 and yes I have connected it using USB. Strange part is it's recognized by computer and I sync my contacts and calendar entries etc. but when I try to sync music it just says device not recognized check media card and also if mass storage enabled! I have a media carg (8GB) and mass storage is enabled.

If all you want to do is transfer music (or video) files to the SD card then I personally find it easier and quicker to use one of these

Kingston USB Micro SD / SDHC Card Reader - Red £4.99 - Free Delivery

The card then shows up as an external USB drive in Windows

It's a little fiddly the first time you use it, but it works fine, and is a lot quicker than using the BB desktop software

Does anyone else find it a right pain in the a*** fitting the SD card in the 9000, or is it just me?

thanks will get one of those card readers.
It is a nightmare fitting the card into the phone. Hope the 9700 isn't the same as I am most likely going that path.
