Bold 9700 O2 Call failed

I have had a new Bold 9700 for 3 days now, got the Unlimited data plan added to my contract yesterday, been working since then with no problems.
Until this evening. I cant make or receive calls, same with texts. I keep getting Call Failed as soon as i hit the call button.
I have pulled the battery out numours times
As the handset was bought off Ebay, I even did an IMEI number check with CheckMAND to see if the phone had been reported stolen! But that came back fine.
Contacted O2. They checked my account, told me there are no bars on my account, and confirmed with me that they don't have the handset blocked. The sim works fine in my Nokia.
Anyone any other ideas on what to try? Is it possible to go back to an earlier OS on the phone to see if that would help? The updater software just tells me i have the latest OS on the phone.
Doing my head in.. Should have stuck with my iPhone 3GS

Tim.

When i go into Manage Connections, then Services Status, its the Mobile Voice that says

Status: not available
Connection: not connected

But the sim works fine in my Nokia. and O2 tell me there are no bars on my contract or the phone.

Sounds like the handset could actually be blacklisted if its not allowing calls or texts.

Was the blackberry purchased externally or part of the contract (upgrade)? I have a feeling that the person you purchased the phone off has done an insurance job and the network has blacklisted the phone.
