Blacklisted Curve

I have a Blackberry Curve that was on contract in my girlfriends name but we split up and she has blocked the sim and had the phone blacklisted. Now i rang up Orange as to find out the reason for the phone being Blacklisted, the reason was the phone had been reported lost/stolen. I spoke to them about this saying thats impossible the phone is in my hand but they could not take the phone off the blacklist without her my ex girlfriends permission.

Now as Orange havent asked for the phone back even though i have told them i still have it is there a way of me getting the phone off the blacklist not through orange so i can use a different sim in the phone?

Yes but from what I know its very very illegal.

I would just move on and get a new on contract, some great deals out and about. Or offer her some cash to have it put back on.

There is no legal way of doing this. And anybody who wants to discuss the illegal ways (either on the forum or via PM) can expect an infraction for doing so.

I expected it to be illegal but just wondered as i would of thought Orange would of asked for the phone back. I even said to them am i supposed to send the phone back to you considering its been reported lost/stolen and they said no.

They can't / wont do anything with it to be honest, it's useless to them. They could refurbish it but there is a chance that problems would occur later down the line. They would have written it off by now.

Your only hope is to sell it on eBay and ship to other countries. The blacklist only applies to UK networks so you'll find a market for blocked phones from foreign buyers looking for a bargain. Or people who want it for parts.

Or sell on Mazuma as not working for £40, not sure if being blocked is considered as working but they offer £95 for a working phone.

As for trying to mess about with getting it unblocked, it isn't worth the trouble.

I would check this if I were you, when I have used these recycling services they explicitly state that they do not accept blacklisted handsets. They work very closely with the authorities and will report to the police any handsets blacklisted as stolen .

I have no direct experience of Mazuma, but I can't believe they would accept a handset reported as stolen.
