Blackberry apps

I'm thinking about making the switch from android to blackbery. However one of the things I'm apprehensive about is the loss of apps. What are some of the stand out apps on the app world.

I'd miss things like a tube app, a national rail app and some sport scores tracking apps. I'd also miss spotify terribly. Not sure if spotify will be working on a blackberry app.

Spotify is meant to be coming on the Blackberry fairly shortly.

Talking of apps (it's a shame to start another thread) - can anybody recommend a pdf reader?

As a noob to Blackberry (got mine today) can anyone tell me if apps on Blackberry's app world are free to use on O2? I have the Blackberry Unlimited Bolt on from O2 and for now all I want is to use Ubertwitter and MSN Live Messenger apps which are both free from Blackberry App world. Would I pay any O2 charges whilst using these apps or are they included as part of the bolt on? Can you tell I am confused?

Any help appreciated, thanks

One shock I got from changing from Android to Blackberry was the cost of applications

Even simple things like a torch app was over £2. All the free apps I had on my Android would cost me money. I wouldn't mine if they were cheap, but they are not.

They will be free to use if you have the bb data plan.

Apps on BB are a crazy price, what is a few pence on an iPhone, is a few pounds on a BB...One I use, Worldmate, £8.99 on iPhone, £70 on BB!

Re: Blackberry apps

Yep, there are apps available for most things now, although you may have to look slightly beyond app world for sone of them. BB apps are also bloody expensive compared to other platforms which is a bit unfortunate.

On 02 with the Blackberry add-on you can use pretty much as much data as you like providing the app uses the BIS connection, some apps (like streaming last.fm) use the normal API settings instead which are charged by the mb. I've just removed these settings to make sure It doesn't use them without me knowing.

How would you know that an application is using the BIS connection?

I've found it similar for my E72, Symbian apps are quite expensive although that may change now that its Open Source, if Spotify was on the BB 9700 I would have gone for one over my E72, may pick up a 9700 to go with it though

Can anybody recommend a good Twitter client for the 9700? More interested in ease of use for reading rather than posting

Also, a good RSS reader that sync's with Google Reader?

Cheers!

Ubertwitter works well for me, I am also mainly a reader, not a poster...
