My first Blackberry - lots of questions

Hey everyone - I'm new to the forum and hoping you can help me out.

Here's my story ...

My other half bought me a 9700 from Carphone W/house for Christmas. I've currently got a contract on 3 for another phone with about 12 months left to run.

I've never had a blackberry before, so I'm all new to it ... didn't realise I needed a BB Data pack. Although I have been using it with my current SIM which has U/L internet (and loving it regardless).

Someone told me the only thing I won't get without the data pack would be BB Messenger and push emails. But there are a couple things that don't "work".

I can't seem to use MSN Messenger. Is it not compatible with the 9700 or do I need to have the data pack?

I can't download any of the BB apps from the website, as it says the phone is not compatible ... is that the phone or the lack of the data option?

I phoned 3, and tried to get the data pack added and they've said they won't do it!!! I mean what would happen if my phone got stolen??

Anyway, if you guys have any advice on this, or just any cool tips for my spiffy new phone, I'd really really appreciate it.

msn, apps etc wont work without the blackberry add on. '3' wont give you it as they dont deal with berrys. Geet the blackberry add on, its only between 5-7.50 a month depending on your provider and it is very much worth it.

With the BB add on you get: Unlimited internet, unlimited push emails, app stores, all messengers (aol, msn, yahoo, BB messenger, etc). And the BB messenger is like no other messenger. Its exclusive to BB's and works outside the network tariff. What it basically does is, each BB has a pin number, and when you have their pin number you can message them (regardless of where they are in the world) for free! with BB messenger you can also send pics, like MMS for free.

Get it, go on now, dont be silly, you wont regret it! Without the BB package, its just another phone

Thanks for the reply ... I phoned 3 today, and have gotten the BB pack added in place of my U/L internet pack. They did it without a problem, and it was the same price.

Not sure how to get MSN downloaded though ... when I try to install it, it says 3 does not support MSN on the BB??

Also, I still can't download BB App World ... anyone have any else on 3 have any ideas on this?

Thanks
