Is 500mb enough for emails and t'internet?

Hi all,

Thinking of getting a 9700 on vodaphone as I fancy a change from the iphone, plus I hate these 24mth contracts that seem to be the only way to get a decent deal on it.

Seen a decent deal on dialaphone, and it says free email and internet, with a limit of 500mb. My iphone is unlimited so I've no idea how much data I use, is there a way of keeping tabs on this with the blackberry, as the charges for going over the limit are unreal!

I'm not a heavy user but I do check emails and facebook etc everyday and browse the net when Im bored at work etc!

If anyone has the same deal or experience any feedback would be great.

Cheers

Do you still have your iPhone? If so, go to Settings > General > Usage and check the Cellular Network Data section at the bottom. This will show how much data you have used and the time period you have used it in.

You can 'Reset Statistics' at the bottom and then keep track of it over the course of a day/week/month to show how much you really use.

If you don't have Push email enabled on your iPhone, factor in a bit of data on top for the BB to cater for this.

Im pretty sure it will be more than enough for you.

Everything on the BlackBerry is compressed and therefore results in lower data usage, and 500MB is plenty to start off with anyway.

You will struggle go anyway near your 500MB limit with a BB

There is an app to track it, you can even set it to warn you when you are reaching limits, daily weekly and monthly, i have my set to warn me an 17mb a day and 500mb a month.

Never get anywhere near that and I constantly using the internet on it.

Hope this helps.

Roughly 365MB a month, so not a massive amount below.... but certainly below.

The trouble is, with that average, you could have used 200MB one month and 700MB the next which on the 500MB BB deal, would have seen you hit your limit.

Yeah thats true, most networks won't charge you if you go over the 500mb by a fraction, if you went over and used say 2GB they would have something to say but if you use 550mb or 600mb they should be ok.

I'm with 02 and I was worried about data usage. The CS told me I'd never get near my limit (doubtful) but they would send me an email/text to tell me when Im nearing it. I dunno if this applies to all carriers

Oh Im 10 month in and havent had a text/email yet and ive not passed my limit, which i think is only 250, and Im on twitter and FB 24/7
