Re: Bold 9700

Had the priviledge of a few minutes hands on with a RIM demo unit last week and i've going to swap my company 9000 with one of these asap.
This is only slighly larger than the 8900 and has the benefit of having the 3G capability of the bold with a better camera, UMA capability and no trackball to get stuck.

I believe Orange should launch this towards the end of November...

Re: Bold 9700

Got mine this morning direct from Vodafone I haven't switched it on yet because I won't do the whole transferring data thing from my 8900 until tomorrow.

It looks, feels and weighs almost exactly the same as the 8900. A positive is that the keyboard keys seem larger (albeit by just a few millimetres) as there are no longer any gaps between each key. Apart from the new trackpad, black side buttons, and a more conveniently placed charger socket (top left side), that's about it!

The Blackberry itself is unbranded, not a Vodafone logo in sight. It comes with a 2GB SanDisk MicroSD card. I was also told that it is unlocked but I have yet to test this.

I got mine on Vodafone, new contract as I've decided to leave T-Mobile due to reception problems at work. I initially pre ordered last month on an 18 month, £40 a month tariff (600 minutes, unlimited texts & internet) but decided to cancel.

A few days ago, a rep from Vodafone called me to inform me that the 9700 was now available and if I was still interested. I said I was but Carphone Warehouse had offered me a better deal (they hadn't really!). So in the end, I got the same 18 month plan as before but for £35 a month and also 7 months 1/2 price line rental. For the first 7 months, they will only debit me £17.50, no need for me to make any claims like the usual methods (sending in bills etc). Hope this is of help to some of you.

Anyone have any experience with these products? BlackBerry Bold 9700 Full Body Protection

Re: Bold 9700

***UPDATE***

Unfortunately, the handset is locked to the Vodafone network even though it is not Vodafone branded on the body. I tried an O2 SIM but I'm getting an invalid SIM message and the option to enter an MEP code.

The default wallpaper is a red Vodafone wallpaper.

I read on the Vodafone eForums that an NUC (Network Unlock Code) from Vodafone for a Blackberry will cost £20. However, I sent them an email and got a reply today saying that they would provide me the code within 5 days free of charge. I cannot fault their service right now.

Re: Bold 9700

Got mine last week. Absolutely love it.

Had the 8800, 8100, 8310, 9000 & 8900 prior to it so defo a blackberry fan.

There's nowt new about it apart from the design so cant really give much of a review. It's like the 8900 but faster.

If I buy blackberry 9700, what reliable SAT NAV I can put on?

Do I need to pay extra for blackberry services as want to access google account.

I've got nav4all which is free and I also got a telenav 12 month subscription from a friend who works for Blackberry. Telenav's pretty good as is nav4all if a little basic.

You just need to add the Blackberry BIS soc to your account on T-Mobile, its £5 a month and will give you push email, blackberry messenger and access to the blackberry app store.

I spoke to T-Mobile today, and they confirmed the same as you said. Extra five pounds will take my tariff to 40 pounds which is too much. So thinking to go for Nokia E72.

Does that include the instant email that usually costs an extra £5 on tmobiles website? Or is it just the ability to receive email?

There is no T-Mobile tariff for 300 mins and unlimited texts except the go direct deal which is only available through T-Mobile stores or the T-Mobile Web site on the 6700, C902, GT500 & Pulse.

I reckon you've actually only got

100 Mins
Unlimited Text (proper unlimited not 3000) £15pcm
Unlimited Internet (1Gb FUP) £5pcm
BB Instant Email £5pcm

Total £25pcm

No, I've got the exact deal/
300min
unlimited texts
web bolt on, 1GB interet
Blackberry services including e-mail (which is normally +£5
phone cost = £39.99
£25/month
24month contract
T-mobile

Remember internet companies get special contracts with phone companies therefore can offer better deals.
I know as my last two contracts on orage were with buymobilephones.net and you can't find the contracts ANYWHERE else!

To answer the previous poster, YES, it does include Blackberry e-mail, which is normally additional £5.

https://www.buymobilephones.net/mobi...ee-WnW/2128875

Absolute bargain. I've had 2 contracts before with buymobilephones.net, and the are lgit. Used them fr last 3 years or so.

Probably cause 24 months hence better contract.

I can guarantee you that they don't. I can see what they've done here though, i'd guess they'd be making a loss on that deal as I know how much dealer commission is paid and how much a 9700 costs them.

Cracking deal though for a 9700!

Does it matter if they have provided a better deal than the best the operator could offer?

Just got mine, having upgraded from the 8310. One slight annoyance is that the trackpad has lost the click sound. Tried re-adjusting it by setting it to mute and then back to click but no joy. I wonder whether this is a common fault.
