My first smartphone - BB Curve 8900?

At the moment I've got a Samsung Tocco, which is a nice enough phone, but I'm finding I'm on the internet more than I thought I would be, and the biggest issue is not having flash support and it's just too obviously mobile internet (if that makes sense), so I'm thinking a smartphone would be better to give me some 'real' internet experience on my phone.

I've looked around at a few phones, and I'm falling for the idea of a Blackberry. I looked at the N97 but it's a bit expensive for my contract needs, and I'm not sure I want to go back to another full touchscreen with no keyboard so alot of other choices are out.

So, really my question is for those with an 8900 Curve. Is it any good? Does the lack of 3G make a difference? As I said my biggest issue is no flash support but not having 3G will be a bit annoying as I can't always get into WiFi coverage. Not sure about the Bold as it's a bit big and bulky looking, plus the crappy camera is putting me off.

Or should I wait to see what this Onyx is going to be like? Any ideas on a UK release date?

I can't believe on a forum as good as this for all things AV, there aren't any posts on the Onyx!!! Is it just an AT&T thing in the states or will I be able to get it on Vodafone over here (under a different name)?
I guess there'll probably be another one out soon after that so should I just get a Bold or Curve now and stick with that?
