Reliable subsidy code sites for 8900 Curve?

Got an 8900 Curve from eBay thats locked to T-Mobile but need it to work with 02.

I figured (a tad naively it turns out) that this wouldn't be a major issue and that, after looking at their site, one could just pay T-Mobile 15 quid and they'd send you the relevant code to unlock the thing - well, they will, but they can't because I don't have and have never had an 'account' with them, so they apparently have no way of just accepting a debit card payment..... (The guy who sold it to me had registered it himself )

There are obviously hundreds of sites listed but so many either look dodgy or have dodgy rep when Googled. Does anybody here have a good one to recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Try the DavinciTeam as they now offer BB unlocking. Possibly not the cheapest, but the customer service makes up for that should there be a problem.

Are they really OK? The website looks a little ropey to me.

Also, do you know if they can unlock Blackberries locked to a UK network? Thanks.

Re: Reliable subsidy code sites for 8900 Curve?

I wouldn't say it looks ropey.

I've not used them before but as a moderator has mentioned them + they have mcafee trust seal on their site which costs money to have. The also have paypal payment methods which do help protect you. If you are worried about fraud still, i would always use a credit card which you have the ability to report theft on and recover funds up to a certain limit.

There is no doubt this isn't a full time money maker for someone. It will be a 1 man band or a side project for someone but if i were in your position, for 20 euros which is about what t-mobile would have charged you for the unlock code, i'd get out my cc and pay through paypal and see what happens.

I certainly wouldn't go the ebay route

// Email them your question on the BB / UK networks. If you get a response by monday (realistically they won't be working weekends) and the response is helpful then there is no reason not to give it a punt.

I've used them for years to unlock Sony Ericsson's and they have always been spot-on. Only one time I had a problem where my credit wasn't recognised, but they sorted that minutes after contacting them.

I've not used them recently but I can't imagine anything has changed and I've not heard anything negative about them.

Re: Reliable subsidy code sites for 8900 Curve?

Thanks Gents.

'Ropey' was probably a poor choice of words. What I meant was that it doesn't look as slick as some sites I visit. But if the service is good then who cares. I'm not too worried about the cost more getting the job done.

Anyway, exactly the sort of answers I was looking for so thank you again. I'll register tonight and hopefully it'll be sorted soon!

Re: Reliable subsidy code sites for 8900 Curve?

Just wanted to say thanks for all your help lads - all done now after requesting and paying for the code tonight, it turned up within a couple hours.

Not only that but for some reason Paypal led me back to the wrong screen and I started to go through an un-needed process. I sent an email to their support and got a reply within an hour - by then I'd figured out my 'mistake' myself anyway but the response time was terrific. (not a bog standard 'reply' email either. You could tell it had been sent by a human!)

1st code worked on first time of asking as well!

I still say their site could do with a re-design though!! haha (they don't actually list 8900 either, just 'Curve')

Seriously though, thanks again. Exactly the sort of informed info I was after and even though it cost a couple quid more than other sites that come up it was well worth it.

Cheers, Steve

Good to hear Steve, glad you got it sorted! It's always worth spending a couple of extra quid to know you'll be looked after should anything go wrong

:D

Glad you got it sorted! Time to set up your BB with all the custom apps and features.

Love my 8900, just don't use the pouch, known battery life problems which i dont think have been rectified even with the .250 OS.
