Re: I love my BB Curve 8320

The 8320 and the newer 8900 are simply the best phones i've ever had, by far.

I only just got the 8900, the upgrade is a welcome refresh to the 8320 which is a truly great phone.

imho, the 8900 is just a modern update. Screen is better, has GPS by default with wifi, it is noticeably quicker to navigate and browser is A LOT better! Not quite as nice as my mrs' iphone but much more usable.

Its just more polished, faster, smaller form factor, looks nicer with the chrome surround and basically improves on the 8320 which is a tall order. Oh, it has a better camera and better audio player too. So now thinking about it, its stunning.

I can't think of a better all round phone, i couldn't live without my BB now. Now i have facebook and twitter on it. As well as the google application with gmail, maps, calendar and contacts which sync perfectly. My BB has given me postcodes, phone numbers and directions with maps, all on the move, what more could i need

I do envy the iphone browser, and maybe the ipod function but thats all.

Re: I love my BB Curve 8320

I just got a new (old stock but sealed box) 8310 locked to Vodafone which is no biggie as I am already with them. I was hoping to use it in pretty much the same way I used a Nokia N95 - bit of web browsing, Google Maps, Google Mail, etc. I appreciate there is a Voda Blackberry service that costs an extra £5 but since I do not particularly want push email I was kind of hoping not to have to buy that.

I put my sim in, which is a 30 day basis £10 + £5 data, and was able to download maps and mail straight away, installed them no bother, but when I try to run them they complain they need a data connection.

How come I can browse via Vodafone live but can't use the connection for other apps? Is this a restriction Vodafone put on, or is it a function of the Blackberry? If I unlocked the phone and used another provider, would I still need to pay for data-plus-blackberry-service with them too?

If I have to buy the Blackberry thing from Voda then I will but since I only want to use it in 'N95' mode, if you like, not wanting the email and such like, I was kind of hoping to not have to...

Then TCP
Next to APN type Internet
At username type web
At Password type web
Then save.

Just the job.

Re: I love my BB Curve 8320

The 'old' curve is a wonderful device, I loved mine although it became slow.

The Bold upgrade was a welcome upgrade, however far too unreliable.

Personally if I were in your shoes, I'd hang on until November until the Onyx is released. As far as on sheet specs go, it will be impressive.
