Wide low oak TV cabinate with centre speaker space??

Why is this so difficult to find?!

After an entire morning searching the web I've found what I'm looking for but unfortunately its too expensive!

I need room for a centre speaker at 50cm wide by 20cm high and amp, VBox.

Saw this....

Pinetum|Solid Oak|Quercus Oak|Milano Oak|Vermont Oak|Pine Furniture|Pinetum Mundus|Wealden Oak

Which looks ideal but (according to someone on here) its about £800 - but is big enough.

Anyone know where I can get something similar but cheaper?

If I got something custom made would it end up any cheaper?

Max budget is about £500 and possibly looking for matching cofee table and nest of tables....

Don't think it would be much cheaper having it done custom in solid oak @ 2m, might save a few bob but not much.

If you can find the right place to make it your budget should be fine I had a book case custom made in oak and it cost less than the pre made stuff.

Re: Wide low oak TV cabinate with centre speaker space??

I've decided I'm going to give these guys a go.....

Baku Light Mango TV/Video Unit

I'm going to go for this as I will be able to put the speaker in the bottom bit.

Not perfect but by far the best solution / £ I have found after an entire day looking!!

Heard some good and some bad things about them but its worth a gamble!

Re: Wide low oak TV cabinate with centre speaker space??

In a previous post I'd mentioned I had the same problems - finding a good wooden AV stand for 3 pieces of equipment plus a centre speaker

I eventually ordered one of these "
http://www.solidwoodinteriors.co.uk/...ky-wooden-cube
" but asked to have an extra shelf added to the centre aperture for the centre speaker

Well it arrived yesterday and I'm really pleased with the result a really solid piece of furniture, with dimensions that work really well with AV kit - I've got a SKY+, Jamo DVR 50, PS3 and PS2, plus Jamo central speaker underneath with my Bravia 40W5700 on top.... it looks great.[

Will post some photos when I get around to taking some....

I would definitely recommend these guys, and I know this piece of furniture is going to last

Re: Wide low oak TV cabinate with centre speaker space??

They were my next option - the only off putting thing for me it that I'm not wild about pine (my flat is mainly oak) and when I asked if he could do the same thing in oak the answer was no.

He does seem to have cornered a well priced market though - just wish he would expand his material options!

If mine does not work out for any reason will likely be heading to him.

Re: Wide low oak TV cabinate with centre speaker space??

Most of my furniture is also oak and the match in colour and texture is actually very good - they do a variety of finishes.

It was a bit of a gamble buying off without seeing it in person but I'm really happy (and so is the wife!!)
