Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

Hi folks, advice needed for a rack/stand for my Onkyo amp. Will be wall mounting tv soon and will need a rack for amp, dvd player, cable box, xbox 360, and wii. Have read posts and see that most racks not suitable for Onkyo because there a beast of a size. Any recommendations guys or even any kit that will be soon be surplus to your requirements and available for sale?

Re: Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

I don't think you really need anything specifically 'special'

I decided to go on an Optimum rack, mostly due to the fact I could pick each shelf height to fit my exact requirements.

They have 2 'depths' 400mm and 500mm, you'll pretty much have to go with the 500mm one (i.e. not the Slimline range).

Hope that helps!

(i'll be posting pics of mine when I FINALLY receive it.........) :D

Thanks pooper, currently looking at Optimum 5500 with the wood legs. Best price appears to be £273. Probably order in a week or so.

Re: Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

My Onkyo 905 really needed a 545mm deep rack to allow sufficient room for the cables at the back!

Re: Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

I've just purchased a Blok 400 for my setup. My onkyo 876 fits perfect in the bottom shelf with a little bit of room on the top for air flow. Its only got a depth of 400mm however so does over hang a little at the back with the cables but it still looks good!

Re: Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

I have been running my 805 on some sound style 120's for some time with no probs.

gives me about 2 inch to the shelf above and open all around.

Runs no hotter than the stereo amps.

that does look like it is going to be a bit tight for ventilation.

Should be okay, there's about a 5cm gap between the receiver and the shelf.

Re: Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

ian

I am considering buying a blok400 for the same amp.
Have there been any overheating or operational problems with the amp on the bottom shelf, given the limited amount of space.

Regards

Tony

Re: Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

The Blok 400 bottom shelf is fine for the 876. Not too sure if it would fit on the middle shelf. It has half an inch gap either side of the amp and has a good 2 inch gap on the top. The amp does hang out of the back slightly (which is good for air flow) so you'll have a a 1 inch gap away from the wall but I have it under my TV so don't really walk over to that wall.

No problems at all with over heating. This is a very good amp and haven't had any problems (touch wood).

I would certainly look around at prices. I've seen this from £240 to £400. I got a display one for £240 from my local furniture store in cherry with sandstone glass.

Re: Best rack for Onkyo receiver??

Hi all,

I have just been doing a little research and it seems that you can customise the optimum AV400 range to meet your own needs at no extra cost:

Optimum 2000 International - Optimum International, Optimum Modular, hi-fi, audio, TV stand, sound, cinema, satellite

So the bottom rods can be 250mm/320mm rather than the 230mm standard giving you that little extra space for ventilation..

Suddenly shot to the top of my list!

Edit - Just read Poopers post above and see he has mentioned it already.. Must have skimmed over it!
