Surround and centre speakers off rear TV mount?

This may sound a bit odd, but bear with me.

I have a sony Bravia, sitting in the corner of my living room. Currently no surround speakers, but I am about to get some. But with the TV in the corner there is not really a good place to place the front two speakers. And secondly the TV stand I have doesn't have anywhere for my centre speaker to go. And now that TV's are so slim, I can't sit it above the TV.

So, how about if I got a wall mount bracket, bolted it to the back of my TV and then made up three nice looking arms. One out to each side and one up from the centre to mount the speakers? Wiring would be mounted in the arms. It would be all self contained on the TV. Bracket would be strong enough as its itended to hang the weight of the TV. And given enough time I think I could make it look quite decent.

Any reasons why I can't do this?

Has it been done before?

Obviously it would mean I have to use quite small speakers, although I would prefer larger speakers, I don't think I sensibly have room to put them.

Not knowing your budget for all this you could look at.

Re: Surround and centre speakers off rear TV mount?

The system with the 3 speakers under the TV looks ok, but I am leaving the tv on its stand. I only suggest using a wall mount to mount the centre speaker off (above the TV) and the sides on the centreline of the tv.

Budget wise, a cheap wall mount is about £30. The upper and side brackets I can make. Just really after opinions, or better still photos of this done before.
