Question Storage for 400+ DVDs

I need some storage to fit in a 117cm wide space (28cm depth). I can only find storage that will hold 312 DVDs max but I have over 400 DVDs.

Can anyone help me out?

Re: Storage for 400+ DVDs

either put some related DVD pairs into one slim double DVD case (so you have only 500 DVDs in 300 cases) or custom build your own from your local carpenter or use someone like www.jali.co.uk or solidwoodinteriors

Alternatively rip to them all to 3 terabyte Hard disks (about £77 each delivered) and save a lot of space and put the originals somewhere up north or wherever you can find cheap storage.

Re: Storage for 400+ DVDs

Hi Scott,

I use these units to store my DVD's:

Discgear.com - Selector 100

So 100 DVD's in a space that is 38 x 16 x 16 cm approx.

The original DVD cases have gone to the loft.

I then use this software:

Invelos Software's DVD Profiler - DVD Collection Software for the DVD and Blu-ray Enthusiast

To keep record of my collection. Each box is number A, B etc.

So if you want a movie, you check on DVD Profiler for the type of movie or any criteria and select the movie you want. On the profiler software I have an item under personal information that allows me to put the disc location ie C22.

I have found this the best system for keeping movies in one location with minimum space. This also allows others to borrow my movies.

Apart from this I am currently putting my entire collection on a NAS drive which is connected to a router. Also connected to the router is my PS3. This then allows me to play a movie without the DVD. You can find more on this elsewhere in the forum.

Hope that helps.

Best regards

Chris
