Deep sofas - where?

hi, i'm re-furnishing my living/cinema room and was wondering if any of you guys know of anywhere that sells deep seated sofas. by which i mean the measurement of the actual seat. from the back of your knee to your ...well, back, i suppose?

trouble is i'm 6'4" and most sofa aren't particularly designed with my height in mind. which means unless i sit bolt upright the seat cushion on a normal sofa doesn't support all the way to the back of my knee. and then not always. i would love a sofa that i could stretch out on without feeling like my arse is hanging off the edge.

there must be fellow lanky hc enthusiasts out there who yearn for the luxurious comfort that only our shorter brothers can enjoy?

being 5'5" must be awesome. every armchair like a bouncy castle. cinema seats that don't become forms of medieval torture after 30mins because you have to slouch down so people behind can see.

anyway, rant over. so, these sofas. anyone one have any advice or stores i should check out?

many thanks

Re: Deep sofas - where?

I can sympathise as I am 6 ft 4 as well. I'm looking to change my sofas and had thought about those recliners that all the furniture stores seem to sell these days but they wouldn't be suitable for me as my legs would still hang over the end! Sorry I can't help you with your search but good luck!

Re: Deep sofas - where?

we bought a temp sofa from argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...%3ECATANIA.htm
thats what the whole unit looks like but i think thats only the price for the corner section.

you can build it as you like with or without chaise. Im 6'4" and have no problems at all, in fact its so good we are not going to replace it, only problem being its from argos so will last 2 years max

Re: Deep sofas - where?

ive always had this problem...why are sofas designed for women and kids .?

...so when we moved house last year and finally we had the room for another full size sofa I got a "mans sofa" - made to order from Tetrad, cushions that are about 3 foot deep and 1 foot thick, feather filled and just under 8.5 foot long so finally i have my own sofa in front of my own telly, that I can lie down on...with room to spare

..not cheap Im afraid, but made from hardwood frame, feather filled cushions, linen covers, about £1300 if I remember right

Re: Deep sofas - where?

I went to Heal's after getting annoyed with the usual high street crap:

Not cheap, but quality never is.
