Re: Cinema style seats ?

I got some from a place in Essex - Southend IIRC. They were used ex cinema ones for £25 each, but they do better ones as well. I'll see if I can find a link for them..

This is them:

http://www.essexupholstery.com/index.php

Give them a ring and see what they have in the way of used seats. They can deliver I believe, but I collected 8 of them which were dismantled and they fitted into the back of a Ford KA. The seats are around 20inches wide when measured to the center of the arms and you add another 4 ins for total width, so three of these should be around 64 inches wide.

You can always try ebay as there are often cinema seats available on there.

Re: Cinema style seats ?

Well i gave them a call and got a quote for three " Argentina " chairs
£285+vat = £334
Then the wife said she wanted four of the, so they requoted me
£380+vat = £446
Now the width of four would mean it would be a sqeeze to get past them, So i asked if i could get a 2/2 formation and was quoted £65 for the extra ends to accomadate it this way. So £380 + £65 + vat = £ 522, Then i would have to arrange carriage so add probably another £60 for delivery.
So the cost had rockected skywards way over my budget.
I could get them but i would have to re-think amp and speakers set up, But to be honest they are just chairs and i would rather put my budget to my hi-fi equipment rather than chairs.
To be fair when i spoke to them on the phone at the end they where willing to forget the £65 for the extra ends.

They are really goods seats and the type i am looking for but really looking for them but a lot cheaper, So will try and sorce them else where.

Re: Cinema style seats ?

The Argentina seats are nice seats that were around £180 each new when I was looking over a year ago, but even second hand are still a fair bit more than the used ones I bought. Ebay is worth looking at but it can take a while before the right seats turn up at the right price. If you do a search for 'cinema seats' or cinema seating' there are a few on there now, though not necessarily what you're looking for.

Re: Cinema style seats ?

Hi mate i have been looking on ebay for quite awhile now but as you said the right seats have not came up yet.

I found these today from Fercoseating They only had five secondhand ones going for £100 ea + Vat.
The only problem is i need all four to match.
Ah well the hunt continues.

Re: Cinema style seats ?

The seats I have a far more comfy when use with a foot stool to put your feet up with. If you're limited on width, cinema seats start at around 20" between centers (so around 22"wide with ends), but seats like the recliners I had before are around 36"+ wide, so severely limit the amount of people you can sit in a row if you have a narrow room and want to sit more than two wide and still have an aisle. Newer cinema seats are wider and more comfy, but I agree they're still not like a proper recliner which can be far more comfortable for long term viewing.

Re: Cinema style seats ?

To be honest life would be easier to put in recliners (which may still happen)
But i just like the thought of a dedicated cinema room with authentic seats, To give that whole cinema feel to it.
Will see what today brings, I am off to a couple of cinemas to see if they have any spare seats they are williing to part with.

Re: Cinema style seats ?

I had the same problem and opted for some black leather recliners in the end.
